Question: The Bible teaches that Christ is the Savior, and has died for us to cleanse us of our sins, but, from a logical standpoint of someone who is thinking about the Christian faith, what reason have we to believe the Bible? Why is the Bible the word of God and not the Q’ran? Or the Torah? I understand that the Bible says it is the word of God in it’s own pages. If I wrote a book about a god that I believe in (that I completely made up), and wrote that that book was the word of the true God, how is it any less valid? How can a logically minded individual say that the Bible is the actual word of God and not the book I wrote?
Again, this is not meant to be spiteful. My mother is Catholic, and I was raised in that environment, and these are just things I’ve been thinking about for many years. I have not had a chance to discus them with anyone, as my mother dodges the questions, and any other religious leader I’ve spoken to only preaches to me about the reasons I’m going to suffer for all eternity, rather than attempting to help me.
